Figuelotte
Sophie Charlotte, who became the first queen of Prussia in 1701, was named Figuelotte by her family. She is part of Frauen Berlins, Women of Berlin, which is a range of hand-dyed yarns, specially hand-dyed by Sabrina of Das Mondschaf for Antje of Wooltheworld. Antje picked a number of women who inspired her, and she created a special colorway for each of them. The colorway for Sophie Charlotte is a pale yellow, which reminds me of flaxen hair.
Sophie Charlotte inspired me to create a seamless cardigan with set-in sleeves in silk mohair, and a small textured stripe with gathered fabric on the fronts that form a v-neckline. It is knitted top down, with the buttonhole band and body worked together in one go. For the sleeves, stitches are picked up around the armhole and the sleeve cap is formed with short rows. The sleeves are straight until the middle of the underarm, where you start to decrease stitches for a tapered shape to the cuff.
Figuelotte is a pretty and elegant cardigan, perfect to wear over a lovely summer dress when the first colder evenings come around. You also can combine it with a blouse and your favorite pair of jeans.
