“Sophistication” is the vocab word for this hat, which features a sleek contrasting-color band along the brim and alternating, disappearing cables set against a reverse stockinette backdrop.

Materials:
2 colors of worsted weight yarn. In the example, I used Cascade 220 and Knit Picks Swish. You’ll need about 150 yards of the main color and fewer than 30 yards of the contrasting color.

16” circular needles, size US 7 (4.5 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge (I am a loose knitter so in the example, I used size US 6) and additional needles for small-diameter knitting (DPNs, a second circular or a long Magic Loop needle). For a tighter fit around the head, knit the brim in one size smaller needles and then go up a size for the body of the hat.

Gauge:
5.5 stitches/inch in stockinette stitch in the round.

Measurements:
Child-sized: 7.75” from brim to top when measured flat.
