Ficaria verna
Ficaria verna – lesser celandine
Native to Europe and west Asia. Even though considered as a
persistent garden weed, it is regarded by many as a harbinger of spring.
The pattern has both written and charted instructions for toe up and cuff down construction and comes in stitch sizes 56 (S), 64 (M) and 72 (L) sts.
The pattern is written for magic loop, but can easily be modified for double pointed needles.
The pictured socks are knitted toe up, on the cuff down version the pattern is upside down due the nature of lace knitting.
Yarn
100 g of fingering weight yarn, app. 400 m (437 yds)/ 100g. The sample socks were knitted with West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4 Ply In colourway Butterscotch, 200m/ 437 yds per 100g.

S (56 sts), M (64 sts), L (72 sts)
Needles & notions
2.75 mm/ US (80 cm/ 32 inches long or longer) circular needle or to meet the gauge
tapestry needle for weaving in ends
cable needle
Gauge
36 sts x 48 rows = 10 x 10 cm/ 4 x 4 inches in stockinette stitch after blocking.
