Fibonacci Two Ways
Blend two colors of yarn using the Fibonacci numbering sequence, which is often found in nature. In this two-part cowl, both colors fall into an eye-pleasing arrangement by alternating them using this sequence for the row counts.
The Fibonacci sequence is a series of whole numbers in which each number is the sum of the two preceding numbers. Beginning with 0 and 1, the sequence of Fibonacci numbers would be 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, etc. This sequence appears often in nature in flower petals, sunflower seeds, pinecones, the nautilus shell and so many other examples.

The Fibonacci numbering sequence may also be applied to stitch patterns as well as color changes in the rounds. Have fun creating new designs using this numbering sequence.

Pattern Notes
This cowl is knit in the round, from the bottom up, using two alternating, contrasting colors, Work Part 1, with rib stitching. Part 2 is all stockinette. The unused color is carried up through each round. A jogless stripe technique is used at the end of the first round of each color change. Carry the unused yarn up through the rounds.
The cowl is 26” x 11” deep. 20” at top. Gauge is 4 sts./in. 5 rounds/in.

Materials
2 hanks (1 of each in contrasting colors, 109 yards each) of Blue Sky Fibers, Woolstok Tweed Aran.
Size 10 circular knitting needles, in a 24” length. Ring stitch marker. Yarn needle.
