Feyrow invites you straight into the heart of the enchanted forest, where the light shifts and the trees curve in rhythm in a landscape of texture and light.

This shawl grows sideways in a hypnotic play of colour and texture. The decorative motif repeats like a forest of soft arches, and the gentle curve emerges almost on its own. Tiny gathered stitches like fairy sparkle are scattered along the branches, with an extra touch of magic that makes them look like little stars on wrong side.

It may look like a charm, but it’s built on simple stitches and steady rhythm. And once Feyrow wraps around your shoulders, it might just keep you a little longer than you planned.

Construction
Feyrow is a side-to-side “half donut” shawl shaped entirely with short rows. The gentle curve obtained makes the shawl very easy to wear, because it stays put on your shoulder.

The decorative motif is a variation on a stitch pattern originally featured in Short-Row Colorwork Knitting by Woolly Wormhead, adapted and expanded with additional background rows to create a bolder rhythm.

Short rows inserted on the left side of each motif allow to shape the shawl in its peculiar shape, while small gathered stitches add texture and a flicker of movement, lovely on both right and wrong sides.
