The hot water bottle is worked on straight needles going alternating between knit and purl rows. There is some basic shaping at the neck of the collar. Then you will knit crown to adorn the top of the cover, if you want to add a cord and pom poms you will do this afterwards. You don’t need an opening as the neck opens wide enough to slide your hot water bottle in.
