Fernhead

Five large ferns wave up the sides of this hat, like ascending migraine pains that curl into points of tension behind the eyes, sinuses, or teeth.

Pattern notes
This hat is worked in the round from the bottom up following a colourwork chart. After a decorative cast on and a small corrugated ribbing section, the chart flows up the hat, changing shades to create a gradient effect in both foreground and background. The wide pattern repeats around the hat five times. Modified French knots can be added at the end for an optional embellishment.
