Fenestrella Cowl
As statuesque as the arched gothic window that inspired it, this cowl is all graceful lines. The touch of asymmetry serves to incorporate the curves of your neck and shoulders into its architecture. Lies obediently flat beneath your coat until you’re ready to unveil its hidden depths.
The cowl is knit in a luxuriously soft blend of Pine Hollow Farm’s own unique Norbouillet crossbred wool, and their silky mohair, perfect to cozy up to your skin.
The cowl is seamlessly constructed by first knitting the flared collar in one long piece, then picking up stitches along an edge of the collar piece without breaking the yarn. The picked up stitches are then worked in the round to form the upper part of the cowl.
The cowl is quite fitted to the neck. Should you wish to create a wider
upper cowl, pick up additional stitches along the edge of the collar, keeping in mind that a full pattern repeat in the upper cowl is 12 sts. This will of course also require more yarn than the pattern calls for. As written, the yarn usage is about 60% collar and 40% upper cowl.
Pattern includes both written and charted instructions.
