Fenestra Shawl
Inspired by the magnificent rose windows of medieval cathedrals, Fenestra is worked from the center out, according to your choice of pi or half-pi shaping (the half-pi version is shown), beginning with a central flower motif and meandering through classic stitch patterns to a simple but elegant knitted-on edging. All of the stitch patterns are easily memorized, making Fenestra a perfect relaxing knit for the experienced knitter or a more challenging project for the advanced intermediate.
The pi shawl is worked center-out beginning with a circular cast-on; the half-pi version is knit from a garter tab cast-on. In both versions the center petal floral motif is shaped according to traditional doily construction; the pi version is knit with eight petals while the half-pi version is knit with five petals.
This pattern is fully charted and not written out.
