Knit 45 inch handles - 6 sts wide.
I picked up 45 stitches between handle placement. Knit in stockinette stitch for approximately 6 inches (always knitting the first 2-3 sts of each row. Decrease 4 stitches at each end of the next four rows but working in garter stitch.
