Pattern description from Lace Style: “We’re all familiar with gossamer shawls, but Mari Lynn Patrick went a step further and created a featherweight dress with handkerchief hem. She combined a fine mohair/silk yarn with relatively large needles to knit up a cloud-like fabric with lace accents. The skirt is worked first in two halves joined at the center to form a rectangle with a hole in the center. The bodice is worked next with a diminutive lace motif. The bodice and skirt are then sewn together with elastic thread. Additional bands of lace at the neck and hem add to the fine-lingerie look.”

Yarn: Sportweight (CYCA #2 Fine).
Rowan Kidsilk Haze (70% kid mohair, 30% silk; 229 yd (209 m)/25 g): #590 pearl, 4 (5, 5, 6, 6) balls.

Needles:

• Skirt and bodice back - size 8 (5 mm): straight.
• Bodice front and sides - size 3 (3.25 mm): straight.
• Lace hem - size 7 (4.5 mm): 40” (100 cm) circular (cir).
• Waist ribbing 0 size 7 (4.5 mm): 24” (60 cm) circular (cir).
• Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
• Note: Bamboo or other lightweight needles work best for this fine yarn.

Notions: Stitch holders, removable markers or waste yarn; tapestry needle; 1 spool of elastic thread in matching color (available at fabric stores).
