The Feather Hood is a captivatingly beautiful accessory for chilly days.
It is knitted from a luxurious alpaca-silk blend, using multiple strands of yarn together. The unique feature of the hood is that most of it is knitted with three strands, while the edge around the face is worked with a double-knit using two strands, so a ribbon can fit inside without making the edge too thick. The neckline is finished with a double-knit using a single strand, ensuring the edge doesn’t curl in use and remains the same thickness as the rest of the hood.
Golden stoppers at the ends of the ribbons elevate the style even further.

WHAT YOU NEED
Yarn: 75 g of Katia Silk Alpaca Natural Colors (74 % alpaca, 26 % silk - 150 m / 25 g).
Needles: 5.5 mm (US9) and 4.5 mm (US7).
Gauge: 13 sts x 19 rnds = 10 cm / 4” in stockinette st.
Technique: The work begins at the bottom, and it’s worked in the round from neck to the chin using 3 strands held together. The hood section is worked flat, and the crown is shaped similarly to a sock heel. The edge of the hood is finished with a double-knit using 2 strands held together. The lower part of the neck is finished with a double-knit using only 1 strand to prevent curling during use. Finally, the ribbon is knitted as an i-cord with 2 strands held together.
