Feather and Fan Triangle Shawl
Summary: Top down triangular shawl with shaping. Instructions presented only in charted form. (Chart p. 66)
From the pattern description: The Icelandic triangle has some special features. It is knitted from the top down beginning with only seven stitches. The triangle grows rapidly by increasing on each end and in the middle of the shawl… In addition, two rows near the top have extra shaping increases that help keep the shawl on the shoulders. About two-thirds of the way through the shawl, work the increases on each end on every row to create long elegant tails that you can wrap or tie many ways. The simple feather and fan stitch pattern creates a deep border and the bands of color provide the traditional Icelandic flavor.
Yarn requirements: 3 colors: 600 yds for middle of triangle, 300 yds for each of the border colors.
Needle: 24" circular needle.
