Yarn: Jamieson & Smith Jumperweight Shetland (1oz/28g; 150yds/137m; wool) 9 (9, 11, 12 skeins Dusty Rose #FC50 (MC), 3 (4, 5, 6) skeins Creme #1a (CC)

Needles: Size 4 (3.5mm) needles in double-pointed needles (dpn) and circular, 16” and 24” (41 and 60 cm) long, or size to obtain gauge

Notes:

1. Those familiar with EPS (Elizabeth’s Percentage System) will see it reflected in this design: the body circumference is 100% or k which stands for Key Number and equals gauge times inches around the widest part of the body. The number of sts to cast on for the cuff is approximately 20% of k; sleeves are increased to around 35% of k and the yoke is decreased to roughly 36 - 40% of k for the neck opening On this sample, 6 sts to 1” x 41” around = 244 (adjusted down 2 sts so that when the sleeves are joined to the body, the total number of yoke sts will be divisible by the lace motif).
2. A vertical repeat of the Feather and Fan lace is 5 rnds: 1 pat rnd, 3 knit rndds, plus 1 purl rnd.
3. As I struggled (and failed) to make Elizabeth’s numbers work, I was forced to analyze this lace pattern. It broke down to increasing and decreasing over two equal numbers plus a number that is one less than the other two. For example, a 20-st repeat is comprised of 7 yo’s + 7 k2tog’s + 6 knits, a 17-st repeat is 6+6+5, A 14-st repeatIS 5+5+4,etc.
