dWhen I set out to design a new pair of fingerless mittens, I wanted to capture that feeling you get with the first signs that Autumn is coming. When there is a shift in the air and the leaves have that slight crackling sound that wasn’t there just a few days before.

For me, Autumn is all about comfort. Big bowls of soup, hot mugs of tea, a cosy blanket on my lap…and it’s the same with my knitting. At this time of year, I find myself reaching for projects that soothe my mind, and Feallan is the perfect choice for that. Meaning ‘to fall’ in old English, I can’t think of a better way to begin the knitting season.

Feallan is knit in the round, cuff up.  The body is in Stockinette Stitch and features a textured panel on the back of the hand. Increases are worked to create the thumb gusset and all edges are completed in 1 x 1 half twisted rib for a cosy fit. The length is adjustable and I have noted in the pattern where chart repeats can be added or removed to get your preferred fit.
