Favorite Stitches Aran Vest

I have been enamored of Aran knitting ever since my grandmother made me what she called an “Irish pattern sweater” in the 1970s. Here in my updated version of an Aran vest, I incorporated three of my favorite stitches: honeycomb, cables, braid cables, and moss stitch.
There are two options for the back. Option I is knit in moss stitch to work up quickly and to be less bulky and warm than a fully cabled version. Option 2 matches the cable patterns on the front and requires an extra ball of yarn.
Although this yarn has “worsted” in its name and it fits into the worsted category. it is actually slightly heavier than a standard worsted-weight yarn and works up at a gauge of 4½ stitches per inch. For this vest. the yarn created a firm fabric that allowed the cable patterns to pop.
