Fascinator
Out of print.
This pattern was
available for free.
No gauge given. Garment is essentially a triangular shawl gathered to half width 5 rows down from the centre point in order to create a little ‘cap’ to sit on top of the head while the rest falls to the shoulders.
The pattern specifies a “crochet hook size 1”: note that this does not appear to correspond to a modern B/1 hook.
Quantities suggested: knitting cotton in 100-yard skeins, 3 skeins in base colour plus 1 in another colour for edging. No.600 Knitting & Crochet Cotton is described as ideal in size “for making sweaters, hats, afghans, rugs etc.”, therefore presumably relatively thick.
Date circa 1940s.
