“A GENTLE breeze in spring can result in a virtual snow storm of falling blossom from cherry and almond trees,” says Emma Vining. “My Falling Blossom design has a series of individual flower motifs that appear to fall away from the repeated blossom pattern at the top of the garment. Long lines of twisted stitches form the outlines of the flowers. These outlines have reverse stocking stitch centres at the lower part of the garment. The eyelet flower motif is then gradually introduced, finally filling all the centres of the upper section.”
