Fairley
Tulips – those beautiful, short-lived flowers can live on forever in this pretty little bag.
Use it as an everyday bag to hold onto your special items, it also works great as a project bag.
Flowers are created using eyelets and simple decreases; this is both fun and fast!
Use any of your favorite worsted weight yarns, though it is especially sweet in a hand dyed yarn.
This is an intermediate pattern; you need to be able to increase and decrease, work in the round, follow a simple lace chart, and pick up stitches.
Finished Size
Approx 11” / 28 cm wide at widest point and 9 ½” / 24 cm tall; longer handle measures 7 ½” / 19 cm tall; bottom rectangle is 4” / 10 cm wide and 9 ½” / 24 cm long
Yarn
Madelinetosh Tosh dk – 100% superwash merino wool, 225 yds / 205 m per 3.53 oz / 100g – 2 skeins or approx 410 yds / 375 m of a light worsted weight yarn; shown in colorway Nectar
Needles
Size US 5 / 3.75 mm, 24” circular – or size needed to obtain gauge
Gauge
24 sts and 32 rows = 4” / 10 cm in Stockinette stitch / Double Eyelet Rib with one strand of yarn
Pattern Notes
- The bottom panel of the bag is worked first, using a double strand of yarn. Stitches are then picked up around this panel and bag is worked in the round to the top.
- Straps are picked up and knitted last, one smaller than the other for a Japanese knot style closure, which causes the bag to close on itself.
Errata:
For the Top Border, the * was missing for where to rep patt - it should read as foll:
