This project is a challenging introduction to stranded colorwork in the round. If you’ve admired traditional Fair Isle knitting but are unsure about how difficult it is, this small-scale project will help demystify the process for you. These mitts combine working in the round, ribbing, plain knitting, and stranded knitting. A simplified thumb with a raw bound (cast) off edge keeps the fussiness to a minimum. The three-color motif around the cuff uses the Fair Isle tradition of introducing a color shift at the halfway point, but you could simplify this by using only two colors.

3 balls (1 each of Main Color MC and contrasting Colors A and B) fine weight (sport or light DK) yarn, 50 grams/131 yards (120 m).
