Failure Is Impossible
Celebrate 100 years since suffragists became the first peaceful protestors to picket the White House.
Wrap yourself in the inspiring words of Susan B. Anthony! This inexpensive and easy-to-make afghan replicates a banner in the National Woman’s Party textile collection at the Belmont-Paul Women’s Equality National Monument.
Echoing the official purple, white, and gold colors of the National Woman’s Party, the afghan is crocheted in gold worsted-weight yarn (3 skeins) then trimmed and embellished in purple (1 skein). It is made in a single panel using an interchangeable hook with long cable. Most of the afghan is Tunisian simple stitch (tss), with Tunisian purl stitch (tps) at the edges to minimize curl. The curved lower edge is finished off with 3 rows of sc and trimmed with fringe. Lazy daisy and satin stitches create textured lettering slightly raised from the surface of the afghan.
