Earlier this year I got hit by the Mosaic Crochet bug. Once I discovered this amazing way of crocheting, I had so many ideas running around my head and this is one of them. After making the Bobble Stripe Blanket when my first daughter was born (maybe I should rename it the Ella Blanket?!) I though it was only right that I create something new this time around too, so this is what I decided to make.

If you haven’t seen my Mosaic Crochet series and you aren’t familiar with Mosaic crochet yet, I hight recommend that you take a look and give it a practice before you start this pattern. Although I have an assisting video tutorial to go along side this pattern, it’s worthwhile really getting to grips with the basics so you can make a showstopper of a blanket.

This pattern is written in UK terms.

This pattern is made using the Inset mosaic crochet technique which means stitches worked into full stitch. The pattern is worked in 2 rows of each colour turning at the end of row. The yarn is not tied off so there aren’t lot’s of ends and you can ‘float’ up yarn. I would suggest working the practice swatch on the blog post prior to starting this project if you have never done mosaic crochet before.

Increasing your hook size for your foundation chain may be beneficial if you tend to work this quite tightly.

Chain 1 at beginning of the row does NOT count as a stitch.

When changing colour, pull through new colour on last pull through of the stitch. Do not fasten off yarn, instead float yarn up.

To make size adjustments, work your foundation chain in multiples of 16 plus 3.
