Espresso beanie
The Espresso Beanie is a classic, everyday hat with clean lines and a snug, comfortable fit. Designed to be both simple and satisfying to knit, it’s the kind of accessory you’ll want to make more than once: for yourself, and as a go-to gift.
The beanie is worked in 1x1 ribbing, creating a stretchy, minimalistic fabric that fits a wide range of head sizes. For a slightly sharper texture, the ribbing can also be worked as twisted rib. The brim is folded for extra warmth and structure, giving the hat a polished finish and cozy feel.
The Espresso Beanie is designed to be knit using fingering weight yarn held together with suri or silk mohair, resulting in a soft fabric with a subtle halo. If you prefer a more straightforward option, the beanie can alternatively be worked with a single strand of DK weight yarn, simply omit the instructions where two strands are held together and knit with one strand throughout.
The beanie is worked from the top down, allowing you to easily adjust the length and try it on as you knit to achieve your preferred fit. After the crown shaping, the rest of the hat is a relaxing knit in ribbing.
The Espresso Beanie knits up quickly and is perfect for highlighting beautiful yarns from your stash. Whether you choose matching solids for a minimal look, marled shades for depth, or richly speckled yarns, the simple ribbed texture lets the yarn take center stage.
