Espalier
An espalier is a fruit tree that has been trained to grow horizontally along a supported lattice – if you’ve never seen one, it’s quite spectacular (and such a great use of space)! One of our favorite features when we bought our home was that it came with espaliered apple trees lining the driveway; the neighborhood deer enjoy them too.
