Ernici are the mountains in the Appennines where I spend the summer, away from the heat of Rome. They are far from tourist routes, a hidden gem that offers beautiful and relaxing views of hills and valleys covered with woods, vineyards and olive trees. So charming!
This cocoon shrug worked in a simple mosaic stitch with an eye-catching effect that reminds me of that view.
Construction
This cocoon shrug/cardigan is worked flat from the center out, starting with a provisional CO.
The first half/sleeve is worked flat until the desired length, then all the sts are left on hold.
Then stitches are picked up from the other side of the provisional CO and the second half of the cocoon is worked in the same way.
The sleeves are finished with a twisted rib border.
Finally, a border is picked up around the body and worked in the round in a 1/1 twisted rib.
