pattern stitch for gauge swatch:

T2P: purl into front of 2nd st, then purl into the front of 1st st and slip both sts off the left hand needle tog.

T2K: knit into back of 2nd st, then knit into the front of 1st st and slip both sts off the left hand needle tog.

row 1: p2 k2, T2P, p1, k2, p2 to end.

row 2: k2 p2, T2K, k1, p2, k2 to end
