I love to wear my shawls bandana style, with the point at the front, rather than the more traditional way. but I find many triangle shawls are just too big to wear like this!
Equinox is, in fact, a mini version of my Mid-Winter Shawl, (including those oh so useful ties to keep it in place) just scaled down to a more manageable size. Perfect for cooler autumn or spring days when you need an extra little bit of woolly insulation but maybe not the huge bear hug of big mama Mid-Winter…

Skills needed
- cable cast on
- kfb, yo and m1l/m1r increases
- k2tog/ssk decreases
Yarn Requirements and Substitution
Yarn: DK yarn ( approx 220m/245yds per 100g) in 2 colours.
MC – 100g 220m/245yds
CC - 50g 110m/125yds
Equinox is a great way to use those special single skeins of hand-dyed dk yarn we all have in our stash – you’ll only need one 100g skein for the main colour and less than 50g for the contrast colour.
You could even use worsted/aran weight yarn for the CC – that would really make those garter stripes POP! But be aware, if you do use aran weight you will need around 110m-130m which is somewhere between 60-80g of aran weight superwash merino.
Finished Dimensions
140cm/55” x 45cm/18” with ties extending a further 23.5cm/9.25” beyond each outer point.
Gauge
17sts x 28 rows = 10cm stocking stitch worked in MC with 4.5mm needles, blocked.
Suggested Needles
4.5mm circular needle (or size needed to obtain gauge)
LOW VISION FORMAT
In an effort to make my patterns more accessible to all, a large print version of the pattern is included as a seperate download.
