I am very smitten with the Twisted Fifties Fadients by Dibadu. Hence, I wanted to create a design that would do each individual color justice as well as the whole gradient. My first two projects with that goal were Starry Starry Night and Numilumi which you can find in my Ravelry store. Epicentrical is the third design of this series. In this case I also added one of the contrast colors that Dibadu always puts on offer. You will need about the same amount of yarn from all skeins except for the two skeins you will use for the Trim. Therefore, you will be able to max out on this gorgeous fiber luxury. It would be wise to knit a swatch and to come roughly to the same result, as I didn’t have a lot of yarn left. The Dibadu Twisted Fifties version of Epicentrical is 8”/45cm deep and 76”/193cm wide.

Of course, you can use other yarns as well. I knitted a second version using Schoppel Laceball Überdosis. I knitted with two strands at the same time to achieve a longer color gradient. I used 4 balls and made sure that I had 2 almost identical balls that I could pair up. I needed 1160y/1060m in total for a shawl 18”/45cm deep and 76”/193cm wide. If you want to do the same, make sure that each pair starts at a different point in the color gradient. You can just as well use 2 or 4 individual gradients or have a look at your stash. You will find a stencil to paint in so you can check in advance whether you like the effect. You will find the yardage I needed for each module as well. If your knitting is tighter or looser than mine these figures might vary.

Although Epicentrical is a modular knit but there is no seaming involved as you will join the modules as you go. This pattern includes short rows. You will find photo tutorials on this technique as well as the joining methods. If you prefer other short row methods they can be used as well.
