Entrelac Poncho or Capelet
This is a seamless entrelac poncho or capelet, worked from the neck edge down until it reaches elbow length. The work is then divided and the front and rear points are finished separately. The entrelac squares are worked in stockinette and the edging is attached I-cord.
Using different yarn colors or yarn textures emphasizes the construction. The photos show a poncho knit using a variegated boucle yarn together with a complimentary brushed mohair solid (one skein of each). The second photo, side view, shows the way that the increases are made each round to produce the poncho shape without altering the size of the basic entrelac square. This is the large version (2 skeins of each yarn).
Changing yarn and needle size will change yardage requirements and poncho size. Gauge is not crucial; the only necessary ingredient is a large enough neck opening!

I wish to extend a special thank you to raveler elsabisa for finding this on the web, and encouraging me to list it.
