Ensis
Ensis is the latin name for the razorshells you find on the beach. They almost always land empty. Their shape is very distinct.
Little heartshaped shells are added to the mix.
A scarf that makes the most out of the subtle colour variations in the yarn and has beads for that little bit extra.
A very good scarf for beginner laceknitters.
The beads are added with a crochet-hook and are not prestrung.
Not every row has beads.
You could add or subtract length by adding or omitting repeats.
Errata: Cast on is 87 stitches, not 89
You’ll need approx. 820 beads 8/0 in dark brown.
This scarf pattern is also available in the Shell Lace Patternbooklet!
The Shell Lace booklet contains: Ensis, Across the Beach and Saint Ninian.
This shawl can also be knitted withouth the beads.
