In my travels, I have seen gray wolves in zoos and quite a few other species as mounted specimens,
but I have yet to observe a wolf running free. Looking across cultures, wolves are among the most iconic mammals on the planet. For centuries, they have endured a complicated history with humans, and even today they are both feared and revered – to some, they are vicious monsters, while others see them as the key to restoring a natural balance in the wild in places like Yellowstone National Park. I have a deep respect and love for all creatures, but wolves resonate with me like no other animal I know.
I hope to one day catch a glimpse of a wolf out in the wild.
