Endeavour
For a while, I’ve been dreaming up a sock design that incorporates a detail composed of a series of inter-connected circles.
I have a bit of a thing for diagonal lines, so I wanted to lay the circles across the foot in a diagonal kind of way. Endeavour uses the different textures found in combinations of knits and purls to create the circles motif.
This pattern includes two different recipes, one for each foot. They are essentially the same sock, but with the circles motif orientated in opposite directions on each, to make a pair of socks that will be symmetrical, rather than identical.
This document comes complete with full written instructions for each, as well as charts for the portion of the socks that differs from the left one to the right.
This pattern is for a fairly short, ankle-length sock. It is easy, however, to adapt the pattern for a longer sock.
Written up for my own size (UK size 9), but easily fitted to any length of foot.
Shown here in Malabrigo Sock Yarn, colourway: Lettuce
ERRATA: In the toe section of the pattern, the original version stated that you start working the toe 3 cms before reaching the desired length. It should have read 4 cm before reaching the desired length. The pattern has been amended accordingly.
