Emoji Pins
I made these to pass out on Worldwide Knit in Public Day, June 10.
Make a dozen emojis and give them to your friends—happy ones, sympathy ones, whatever is appropriate. You can give them to others to pass on to still others—brighten up the day for your favorite barista or cashier.
Emoji pins can be embroidered on both sides with different faces to add versatility. With a safety pin on the back, they can be pinned to backpacks and shirts, or simply sit by someone’s computer to cheer them up.
Each one can take 15 minutes or less to make. They will each have a slightly different personality.
No sewing, other than weaving in ends and embroidering the face.
SKILL: It helps to already be comfortable with circular knitting, increasing and decreasing. Basic embroidery.
This is one of the few times I would not recommend working a gauge swatch first, as it will take much longer than actually knitting the project once or twice to get a firm gauge.
The picture with the quarter in it is a more accurate view of the color of the yarn recommended than the second picture.
CAUTION: Not for children three or younger, nor for children who might leave them out for a child three or under.
