Emma's First Hat
At six months pregnant I started feeling an urge to knit things for my future daughter. This is what I thought would be a cute hat for her to wear when she comes home from the hospital.
Size: newborn, but since it is ribbing, it should fit for some months.
Finished measurements: 10 inches around, un-stretched ribbing.
Materials:
Yarn: 1 skein Lion Cashmere Blend, it seems to be discontinued, just use anything soft enough for baby skin in Aran weight (8wpi). You would need less than 50gr.
Ribbon: ½ yard of ¼” wide ribbon in a color that looks good with your yarn.
Recommended needle size: always use the needle size that gives you the required gauge. I used US #7 circular 16” and double pointed needles for the top.
Notions: yarn needle for weaving in ends and sewing needle and thread to secure the ribbon in place.
Gauge: 17 stitches = 4 inches in stockinette stitch
