These socks are knit from the cuff down in my preferred rib (k3, p1). A classic heel flap, knit quite deep to allow lots of room for the ankle and a simple and clean grafted toe to finish. Higher stitch counts for the leg and foot allow for a comfortably loose fit that won’t bind or pull anywhere. Socks that are too tight never keep your feet warm!
The pattern is written with instructions for classic contrasting cuff, heels and toes, but I have included illustrations of some other suggestions for adding contrasting colours (I always use at least 2 contrasting colours, but the more the better!) So it’s totally up to you where you use your contrasting yarn(s). Of course, you can always knit your socks in just one colour.

NOTE ON SIZE LARGE. If you choose to knit the size L socks in just one colour, you will need about 115 grams to knit the pair. If you are using contrasting yarns for the heel and toe, 100g will be enough to knit the main body of the size L socks.
