If you are a fan of the leaf motif, then this romantic capelet belongs in your collection. I am currently writing the pattern for the matching hat as well, so stay tuned. This pattern comes in one size which really will fit most. It is for intermediate to experienced knitters.

Knit an expanding swirl of spiraling leaves as the fall, then pick up and knit into the fall’s cast on row to knit a short row shaped yoke.

Pattern calls for 4 skeins of Madelinetosh Tosh Merino DK (this color is Tern), which at 225 yds per skein adds up to 900 yds. But I only used about 50-75 yards of the fourth skein. Everyone’s knitting is different, but it’s doubtful that you actually need 900 yds if you are subbing another yarn. Shoot for 750-800 to be on the safe side.

I started knitting on a 24” circular but had to use a longer needle after a few tiers to hold all the stitches. Tosh Merino DK is almost a worsted weight yarn: it’s hefty. So I needed a 45” needle by the last couple tiers.
