Elven forest socks
These socks are knitted top down with variation of a Gerdina Crouford-Strong heel and a gusset construction (without picking up sts) and a wedge shaped toe. The pattern is written for the magic loop method but it can be easily adapted to DPN’s.

KNITTING SKILLS:
• Basic knitting skills (knit, purl, yarn over, increase, decrease);
• Kitchener stitch;
• Reading of charts.

• Original yarn:
Novita Venla (75% wool, 25% polyamide, 460 yds / 420 m – 100 g). 1 skein of colour 372
or
Sandnes Garn Sisu (80% wool, 20% polyamide, 191 yds / 175 m – 50 g). 2 skeins.
• Yardage:
438 – 460 yds (400 – 420 m) in 3.5 oz (100 g)
or
186 – 191 yds (170 – 175 m) in 1.8 oz (50 g);
• Needles:
US 1 / 2.25 mm 32” / 80 cm circular needles, or other size to obtain gauge
or
US 1½ / 2.5 mm 32” / 80 cm circular needles, or other size to obtain gauge
• 2 stitch markers.

• Sizes: 1 (2, 3)
Foot circumference: 4.7 (5.5, 6.3-7.1, 7.9)” / 12 (14, 16-18, 20) cm
or
Foot circumference: 5.5 (6.3-7.1, 7.9, 8.6)” / 14 (16-18, 20, 22) cm
Foot length: Adjustable.
• Gauge:
32 sts x 44 rows to 4” / 10 cm on US 1 / 2.25 mm needles in stockintte st, after blocking
or
28 sts x 40 rows to 4” / 10 cm on US 1½ / 2.5 mm needles in stockintte st, after blocking.
