Elsie Scarf
Together with the soft hat, of course, belongs a small shawl. In the same fun and simple pattern, but with cheeky increases in the middle and a new way to tie it on. A fun little something that can go around your neck twice and keep you nice and warm during this cold, cold winter.

Sizes

Width: 36 cm / 14 inches at the widest point Length: 130 cm / 51 inches

Materials
Önling No 2, 100% Supersoft merino wool, 120 m per 25 g

Color A: Light grey (grigrio 0), 75 g
Color B: Beige/green melange (Yarra, 7853) 50 g, or dove blue (Light, 3650) 50 g

Knit with either color A (grey advent calendar) or color B (multi colored advent calendar) and there is enough yarn for a shawl. It can easily be knitted a bit longer with the yarn left over from the hat.

3 stitch markers

Recommended needle size 4 / US 6

Gauge
20 sts and 30 rows in stockinette st with needle 4 mm / US 6 = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 inches.

The rib pattern is very elastic and is impossible to measure, so knit your gauge swatch in stockinette st.

Directions
You cast on stitches and knit back and forth. You knit
neat i-cord edges on each side and increase for more width by yarning over on each side of two middle sts we call MS, on every 10th row. The shawl is the same at the front and back and reversed across the centre. There- fore, if you knit k 2, p 2 before the middle stitches (MS), knit k 2, p 2 right after these. This means mirrored, and reversed. At the beginning, knit according to the text, then continue with either the chart or the text until you master the technique, and then you can just knit your heart out until you have just under 10 g yarn left. Then you knit the smart holes and finish the rest of the re- maining yarn, ending with binding off all stitches.
