Pattern Notes

Elokuu is inspired by warm, late summer days spent picking wild blueberries on sunny mountainsides. The name Elokuu is the Finnish word for August - the best month for picking berries in Northern climates.
This shawl is as light as a feather and just the right size to drape over your shoulders when an evening chill comes over the berry patch. The curved triangle shape ensures it stays put with no fuss as well. A simple mosaic stitch makes up the body of the shawl, which also features a band of stranded colorwork and bobbles- reminiscent of a blueberry plant. Optional fringe completes the simple but far from boring design.

Materials:
Yarn:
A Verb For Keeping Warm (70% merino wool/ 30% silk, 438 yards 401 meters 100g)
C1: Blue solid
C2: White/green speckled

Yardage:
You will need approximately 340 yards of C1 and 200 yards of C2 to complete this shawl without the fringe (540 yards total). The fringe is made using approximately 100 yards of C2 and 50 yards of C1.

Needles:
US 4 (3.5 mm) needles, or size needed to obtain gauge. Note that this shawl is knit very loosely, so if you are a tight knitter you made need to go up several needle sizes to meet gauge.

Gauge:
17 sts and 20 rows over 4” 10 cm in mosaic pattern. Note that gauge is not critically important for this design, but your finished dimensions/ yarn usage will vary if your gauge differs from that stated.

Pattern Notes:
This triangle shawl is worked from the top down. Increases are worked on every row, with 4 sts added every RS row and 2 sts added every WS row.
