Elmegade Hat
The Elmegade Hat blends traditional Scandinavian design with very non-traditional colour combinations to create a fun colourwork design in five sizes to fit the whole family. Fold the brim up for a fitted beanie/toque or leave it down for a more contemporary slouchy look.
Skills Required
- knitting in the round
- knit, purl, k2tog, central double decrease (instructions included!)
- working stripes and carrying yarn up the inside of work
- stranded colourwork - including using three colours at once (this happens in a couple of rows in the crown - it’s easy to get into a tangle, just take a deep breath and take it slow - you got this!)
- following a chart

Yarn substitution
This is a great pattern for using up leftovers!
Any 4ply/sportweight yarn that is suitable for colourwork will work well - something a bit toothy works best! Jamiesons of Shetland Spindrift or Jamieson & Smith 2ply Jumper Weight would be very good.
