Jean has a small collection of old dolls, two of which are antique wooden peg dolls. These penny woodens were produced in the Victorian era as toys for poor children, who dressed them in scraps of fabric and trimmings. Yet one very rich girl chose to dress a large number of these simple dolls. That little princess was later to become Queen Victoria. Her wonderful collection of peg dolls is at present housed in the Museum of London.

Eliza is Jean’s exquisite knitted version of a Victorian penny wooden. She is a truly unique creation - a must for all doll enthusiasts.

Measurement: 34cm (13½in)

Yarn requirements: 40g (1½oz) of white, 30g (1oz) of light pink, 20g (¾oz) of light yellow and red. Oddments of black, blue, yellow, and orange.

Other materials: Red and black sewign thread for facial stitches. One 5mm (¼in) diameter plastic drinking straw. Fourteen 3mm (1/8 in) diameter plastic drinking straws.
