Elephant Baby Rattle
Please note: This is a CROCHET PATTERN (PDF), NOT the finished toy.
Language: English (US-terms), Russian
The finished toy is approximately 12-14 cm high and the head diameter is about 5-6 cm (without ears). The weight of the finished rattle is about 40-45 grams.
Gauge is important for size! If you crochet loosely, the toy may be 1.5x larger than estimated.
Materials and tools for crocheting:
- 4 -ply sport weight yarn (amounts are approximate), 1 skein = 50 grams:
- YarnArt Jeans gray #49 or #80 – 25-30 grams (~1/2 of skein) ;
- YarnArt Jeans mustard #84 – 5 grams (1/10 of skein);
I used: YarnArt Jeans (55% cotton + 45% Acrylic), 174 yards (160m), 1.76 Oz (50 g)
Yarn consumption can increase up to 1.5 times when crocheting with yarn over (YO) way. And the toy will have a bigger size.
- Hook size 2 mm (or other suitable for the yarn).
- Black (or dark gray) and pink threads for eyes and blush embroidery.
- Blunt-ended yarn needle.
- Thin needle for eyes embroidery.
- Scissor or yarn snip.
- Polyester stuffing.
- Rattle ball for toys 2.8-3.8 cm in diameter (I use 2.8 cm. With a larger diameter, you will get a louder sound and lighter weight, but may be more difficult to stuff).
- Optional: tweezers or wooden stick for stuffing, stitch marker.
