“Elegant jerkin for summer wear” from Stitchcraft, April 1952.

Cap-sleeved, buttoned blouse with waist ribbing and set-in pockets in two colours of Patons Purple Heather 4-ply (6 ozs. white and 4 ozs. powder blue 4380.) One size is given, for 33-34 inch bust. Length from top of shoulders, 23 1/2 inches.

Gauge is not given in the pattern, but there is a “life-size” photo of the knitting, which appears to have 24 stitches in almost 2 1/2 inches. The 4-row stitch pattern involves slipping and wrapping knit stitches on the RS and moss stitch on the WS.

Needles used: UK no. 10 (3.25 mm) for body of garment, no. 12 (2.75 mm) for moss-stitch edgings and no. 13 (2.25 mm) for waist ribbing. Other materials: nine buttons and 1 1/2 yards white petersham ribbon for facing button bands.
