This shorty ankle sock design uses stranded knitting to create a rotated plaid design. Its simple construction makes it a good project for those looking to create a stranded sock with minimal floats to catch. It’s a great project for trying Elaine’s Happy Heel construction!

• Twisted ribbing at the top is folded down to create a short, tidy, stretchy ribbing

Approximate Finished sizes - Ladies Small (Medium, Large)

• Ladies Small: Measures about 9 ½ ” from the back edge of the heel to the tip of the toe; circumference of sock is about 8”.
• Ladies Medium: Measures about 10 ” from that back edge of the heel to the tip of the toe; circumference of sock is about 9”.
• Ladies Large: Measures about 10 ½ ” from the back edge of the heel to the tip of the toe; circumference of sock is about 9”.

Yarn amounts:

• Size Small: 1 skein of MC and 1 skein of CC.
• Size Medium: 1 skein* of MC and 1 skein of CC.

Note: Size Medium uses almost exactly 1 full skein (50 g) of Stroll per pair. Suggestions are provided for how to work the socks if you’re concerned about having enough yarn.

• Size Large: 2 skeins of MC and 1 skein of CC

The Elaine’s Happy Heel is integrated into the body of the sock: once you start the rotated plaid design below the cuff, you stop the design….work the heel ….and go right back to the design for the foot. (No afterthought construction!)
