Eksis Mitts are a colourful and fun knit to remind us of those summer days and bright yellow dandelions. Shetland has lots of species of dandelions but there are a couple of native species that are only found in our islands and nowhere else! Eksis is the Shetland name.

Eksis mitts are worked in the round from cuff to top edge. The cuff is knitted first and then your work is turned inside out.

The samples shown are knitted in Murrister Wirset 100% native breed Shetland Wool (2ply equivalent to 4 ply/fingering).
2 ply jumper weight Shetland wool from Jamieson’s of Shetland or Jamieson and Smith are suitable alternative yarns.

The pattern is one size adult but the actual size can be changed using larger or smaller needle sizes. Please pay particular attention to the required tension as my knitting gauge is close.

The mitts are knitted in three shades. You will need 2 x 25g ball for main colour and 1 x 25g ball of two other contrasting shades.
