Egg Egg
What food is more Iconic than the lowly egg? When I was a child I hated eggs, I thought they were just a thing to take up room on my plate while making my toasts soggy.
Now however, my tune has changed! I am obsessed with eggs! I am a strong believer of popping a fried egg on top of any meal. Much like a bowl of rice is incomplete without it’s happy egg hat, any outfit is incomplete without an Egg egg shawl!
About:
“So what are you knitting?”
“An egg”
“Like, an egg egg?”
“Yes.”
Using Pi-shawl math, feather and fan and some well places short rows, Egg egg looks like a happy egg, what more could you want?
You can make your egg as big as you want, I “limited” myself to 4 skeins of fingering, but you could can customize your egg anyway you want. You can even use a heavier yarn and make an egg blanket!
Yarn:
Yardage:
Yolk: 300 yards, 1 skein.
White: 840 yards, 2 skeins.
Crispy bits: 420 yards, 1 skein.
Yolk: Egg Yolk, Sock, Hedgehog Fibres, 90% Merino, 10% Nylon (437 yards, 100grams)
White: Salt, Tosh Merino Light, Madelinetosh, 100% Merino (420 yards, 100grams)
Crispy bits: Gentle Monster, Tosh Merino Light, Madelinetosh, 100% Merino (420 yards, 100grams)
When choosing a yarn for your Egg egg, don’t think too hard… Go for egg colours if that’s what your heart desires, speckled or other wise, maybe you want to make a green Egg, go ham! The sky is the limit.
