This swooping triangle shawl is worked in DK weight yarn and garter stitch to create a big, beautiful, and cozy wrap. Sections of simple lace and mosaic stitch motifs keep the knitting interesting and show off two contrasting colors.
Materials: Suggested Yarn: Indigodragonfly DK Matter, 100% superwash merino wool, 280 yards (256 meters)/100 grams. Two skeins Color A and two skeins Color B. Sample shown in “Bait is Enough” (Color A, blue) and “Claw and Order” (Color B, orange).
Yarn substitution notes: Choose a DK weight yarn with similar yardage and weight as the pattern. As written, the sample used approximately 188g/526 yards of Color A, and 150g/420 yards of Color B. Colors with strong contrast will show the mosaic elements of the pattern best.
Needles: US 7 (4.5 mm) and US 8 (5 mm) circular needles, or whatever size needed to achieve gauge, 32” (80 cm) or longer.
Gauge: Using the smaller needles, 16 stitches and 32 rows in garter stitch, blocked; 21 stitches and 29 rows in stockinette, blocked. Designer’s garter stitch gauge was 19 stitches and 20 rows before blocking.
Size: One size; approximate dimensions 72” (183 cm) x 58” (147 cm) x 50” (127 cm)
