Ebbs & Flows Scarf is an end-to-end reversible ribbed cable scarf and scarfette with never a wrong side showing! It is knit in a sumptuously warm, soft and light baby yak lace yarn held double.

There are multiple options to choose from with the length being fully adjustable. Choose from:

  • Scarfette with a pointy tip beginning and ending (Option A)
  • Scarf with a pointy beginning and ending (Option B1)
  • Scarf with a wider tip beginning and ending (Option B2)
  • Scarf the same width throughout (Option C)

YARN:
Baby Yak Lace, MYAK held double.
50g (350m/ 383yds, 100% Baby Yak).
Lace weight. Shown in Dusty Pink.

Yarn Required:
Scarfette: 1 x 50g skein, 350m/ 383yds
All Scarf options: 4 x 50g skeins, 1400m/ 1532yds

Should you wish to choose a single strand of heavier yarn, like heavy fingering or light sport weight, you will require
Scarfette: 175m/ 192yds
All Scarf Options: 700m/ 766yds.

GAUGE
45.5 sts x 30 rows = 10cm x 10cm (4”x 4”) in 2 x 2 ribbed cable pattern, blocked and unstretched, with larger needle.
Note: Gauge is not important for this pattern but will affect yarn meterage and final size if different.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS

  • Size 3.75mm /US 5 needle (or size needed to obtain gauge) for scarf.
  • Size 3.25mm /US 3 needle, or 0.5mm/ 2 US sizes smaller than gauge needle, for tubular cast-on and bind-off.
  • Spare double-pointed needle, or cable needle in both needle sizes.
  • Tapestry/Darning needle
  • Removable marker.

CONSTRUCTION NOTES:
The Ebbs and Flows Scarf is worked in a 2 x 2 rib cable pattern. It can be started with a wider or pointy tip.
For the wider start options, you may choose to cast on with a Long Tail cast-on or an Italian Tubular cast-on.

To maximize yarn meterage, you are encouraged to weigh your yarn regularly. Yarn weigh-in checkpoints are provided to help manage yarn needed for each section.
