This is a thank you to the knitting community that followed the birth of my son in October via #Tadpolewatch2010 on Twitter.

Birth is like cables. It comes in intervals causing the child to twist and turn until it emerges into the world a new made beautiful creature. At first its difficult until the rhythm of things starts to makes sense and then the intensity and speed pick up.

In this cowl, the cables are big and expansive at first but widely spaced. They gradually get tighter and closer together. Twisting themselves into a garment that hugs your neck, just like a new baby hugs your heart.

The encouragement and support I received during my 40 hours of labor kept me going. Thanks so much to all those who watched with batted breath for the arrival of EazyC.
