The brioche color blocks of the Eastport Pullover are created using the intarsia method. This pullover is worked back and forth in pieces from the bottom up.

Yarn Jo Sharp Alpaca Kid Lustre (40% kid mohair, 30% alpaca, 30% Merino; 121 yd 111 m/1¾ oz 50 g): #868 Verona (navy blue; A), 8 (8, 9, 10, 11, 11) balls; #857 Elderberry (lime green; B) and #859 Brew (gray; C), 5 (5, 5, 6, 6, 7) balls each. Yarn distributed by Kingfisher Yarn & Fibre.

Needles Size 3 (3.25 mm): straight. Sizes 2½ (3 mm) and 3 (3.25 mm): 16” circular (cir). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions Marker (m); removable m; stitch holders; tapestry needle.

Gauge 18½ sts and 48 worked rows (24 visible rows) = 4” in Brioche st on larger needles (see Notes).

NOTES

• This pullover is worked back and forth in pieces from the bottom up and seamed.

• When counting stitches, count each slipped stitch and its companion yarn-over as one stitch.

• When counting rows to check gauge, each visible knit stitch in a column represents two rows worked: one row in which the stitch was worked as brk and the following row when it was slipped with its companion yarn-over.

• The color blocks in the lower body are worked using the intarsia method. Twist the yarns together at the color change to prevent holes. Drop the color you’ve been using to the left of the new color, pick up the new color from under the old color, bring it over the old color, and resume working in pattern.

• The sleeve shaping is expressed as the total number of rows in each increase interval and not according to the visible rows on one side of the fabric. For example, if the instructions say to increase every 28th row, that means 27 rows worked even followed by an increase row, even though these 28 rows will appear as a column of only 14 knit stitches on each face of the fabric.
